Call for abstracts: Gaza’s third cancer conference

Calling all aspiring researchers and experts! We are excited to announce our call for abstracts for Gaza’s third cancer conference. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your cutting-edge research and contribute to the advancement of cancer research and education in Gaza.

Join us as we bring together experts from various disciplines from around the world. Submit your abstract today and join us in this important endeavor to advance cancer care in Gaza and beyond. Your contributions can make a significant difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Health, are delighted to announce Gaza’s forthcoming third cancer conference, dedicated to advancing cancer research, to promote cancer education in Gaza and to contribute to the removal of barriers to better cancer care in the region. This conference will bring together experts from various disciplines to share their knowledge, present groundbreaking research and foster collaborations to beat cancer.

Date: 10 – 11 November 2023

Venue: The venue will be in Gaza but is yet to be determined. There will also be a livestreaming link to be created and shared later.

Slogan: Together beating cancer and crossing barriers

Conference objectives: Discuss cancer care in Gaza and foster collaborations between national and international experts to improve cancer care and patient outcomes in Gaza. Present cancer care changes since 2021, referring to the recommendations of the last conference. Provide a platform for researchers, clinicians, and healthcare practitioners to present their latest findings, discoveries, and advancements in the field of cancer research and treatment. Promote knowledge exchange and networking among professionals involved in cancer care to enhance multidisciplinary approaches in cancer treatment and management. Address the challenges and unique circumstances faced in Gaza concerning cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care. Unblocking the barriers to cancer care in Gaza through advocacy. Abstract submission guidelines:

MAP invites researchers and professionals to submit abstracts of original research, case studies, or review papers in the following areas:

Cancer epidemiology and public health Cancer prevention/early detection/risk factors Cancer screening, community awareness and attitudes towards screening Cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment and follow up after treatment (surgery, radiology, chemotherapy, immunotherapy) Knowledge updates in cancer pathways (prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, follow up) Updates from the field about the developments in breast cancer care/colorectal cancer (multi-disciplinary teams (MDT), clinical audits) /hematology, paediatric oncology and lung cancer Multidisciplinary team approach (MDT) towards the management of cancer Managing early cancer Quality performance indicators/implementation targets for breast, colorectal, lung and thyroid cancer Access to radiotherapy Role of emergency medical teams in cancer management/medical missions and capacity building Palliative and supportive cancer care Quality of life for cancer survivors Psychosocial and emotional aspects of cancer Rights of cancer patients in Gaza and other parts of the world Cancer biology and genetics Health policy and cancer care in Gaza Submission instructions: Abstracts must be written in English and should not exceed 500 words. The criteria for accepting abstracts include the extent to which the study addresses relevant scientific and/or public health issues, its contribution to new practices/knowledge, the influence of the response on the objectives of the study, the clarity of the hypothesis, and whether the results are in line with the methodology. MAP will accept abstracts for oral presentations, all participants will receive feedback about their submissions and authors of accepted abstracts will be contacted for further involvement.

International professional papers/abstracts from other countries are welcome.
