#GazaOperation

During the 51 day conflict in Gaza, hospitals and health centres were overwhelmed by the numbers of injuries. Even before the attacks started, the health system in Gaza was in a dire condition after seven years of the blockade with acute shortages of supplies, lack of equipment, daily, prolonged power-cuts and over-worked staff.

Almost a third of essential medicines were at zero stock along with over half of essential consumables (basic supplies such as surgical gauze and needles). Hospitals were experiencing 12 hours+ of power cuts a day and running short of fuel for generators.

Medical Aid for Palestinians has been working in Gaza for over 20 years and we have a permanent team on the ground there. They were ready immediately to respond when attacks escalated on the 7th July. For the first five days of attacks, MAP was the only UK charity delivering supplies to the hospitals in Gaza.

The #GazaOperation highlights the continued challenge for Palestinians in Gaza to access the right to health.

Please share widely to highlight this health crisis and donate today to help save a life.
